AP English Literature Scoring. The AP Literature and Composition exam is given in May each year to evaluate high school students' ability to do college-level English work and potentially earn college credit. Students have one hour to complete 55 multiple-choice questions and two hours to answer three essay.
Examiners who score the AP exams go through a training process to learn how to score the exams. They then follow a rubric to give each question a score of 0 to 9.
